Domestic Tourism

Domestic tourism refers to people travelling to a different part of their own country/nation. For example, a Scottish person visiting somewhere in England. One of the main reasons why people may prefer domestic tourism, is due to the local travelling which can be much more cost-effective than flying to another country. Domestic tourism is said to be a tool to generate employment and provide some income security.

However, a downside to domestic tourism be a lack of foreign culture and diversity. Some countries are very similar all over, and people who are wishing to experience a different culture will usually not achieve this by staying within the same country.

Inbound Tourism

Inbound tourism refers to tourists from overseas coming in the UK. For example, an American visiting the UK. Inbound tourism plays an important part of the UK’s income. Especially in places like London where their tourism contributes over £100 billion. Inbound tourism creates jobs, expands businesses, and creates diversity.

However, this type of tourism can often create transport issues, specifically with airlines. This can have a lasting negative affect on the country. Also, there may be some tourists who are unaware of specific cultures and this can cause clashes between residents and tourists.

Outbound Tourism

Outbound tourism is often referred to UK residents who are travelling outside of the UK, or tourism purposes. For example, a British person travelling to Mallorca for a summer holiday. Outbound tourism aids the economy and brings in many beneficial factors. For example, it supports the travel industry as a whole, specifically the airline industry.

Although, this type of tourism does come with the risk of increasing environmental pollution, seasonal decrease in finance and employment, and the risk of diseases spreading.
