Beverley Minster
The Beverley Minster is the parish church of St. John and St. Martin. The monastery was founded in the 6th century by John, bishop of York, on the site where Beverly Minster stands. John died in 721, his body was buried in a chapel of the Saxon church. He was canonised in 1037. The church that stands today was built around his tomb. Building work began in 1190 and was completed in 1420. It is there now. The Beverley Minster was famous during the middle ages for its miracles. The sacred tomb attracted pilgrims from far and wide. East Riding Theatre
